pregnant leg cramp

Have you ever been awakened by a leg cramp in the middle of the night? It is the worst. You go for the stretch in the morning and you are met with the leg cramp from hell. In pregnancy leg cramps increase, especially the closer you get to having your baby.

Is there anything you can do to avoid those burdemsome pains in the leg? Absolutley, and we are going to talk about that!

Why Do Leg Cramps Happen?

Leg cramps usually start in the third trimester and grow worse over time. Hormonal changes, nerve compression, increased weight gain, and reduced circulation all play a role in increasing your chances of getting leg cramps. But by far the most common reason for cramps is directly related to your baby. As baby develops, baby begins to demand micro minerals from mom. That's right, your little bundle of joy is soaking up all your minerals and depleting your system. This action commonly leaves mom with headaches, swelling, the dreaded leg cramps.
